Even though I try out great new products pretty often, I still get excited when I find a new product that is absolutely great. Like Jane Iredale’s Triple Luxe Lipstick. A simple product, but somehow it has all the features I’m looking for in a lipstick.

I got this lipstick as a pr-sample, and the color was chosen for me. I picked up my package and looked at it: it looks like a lipstick. I opened the lipstick and looked at the color: well, looks quite ordinary. I quickly read through the info and saw its price (50€ in Finland) – wow okay, is it possible for it to be worth it?

The best lipstick I’ve tried – Jane Iredale Triple Luxe

When it comes to the packaging, the consistency, the color, the longevity, and how it acts on my lips – this lipstick is pretty close to perfect. And I don’t say that lightly. I think a lipstick lover would love this, but I also think this would be a great lipstick for someone, who is not used to wearing lipsticks.

So let me tell you all about it!

Jane Iredale Triple Luxe Long Lasting Naturally Moist Lipstick review

The consistency in Jane Iredale’s new *Triple Luxe lipstick is very nice. It feels silky smooth when applied, but not too much. Actually, my lips feel like my lips, even after applying this product. And there’s the secret. I can wear it, without feeling like there’s anything on my lips. Better yet, the lipstick wears off very naturally and at the end of the day, my lips don’t feel dry, or as if I was wearing lipstick all day. That’s why I think this lipstick would be great for someone, who’s not used to wearing lipstick. It feels comfortable.

The color payoff in the lipstick is nice. It’s surprisingly pigmented, compared to it’s thin consistency. You can layer it a bit, to get an even more intense color. Personally I’m fine just with one layer and I think the color it gives with one layer is beautiful. The color seems to almost melt to my own lip color and it looks natural.

This lipstick is not that long-lasting, but I think it’s not a bad thing. As I said, the color is nothing too crazy, so it also wears off naturally from your lips. Meaning, you don’t look crazy when it wears off and you forget to fix your lip makeup. (At least with this color that I have.) And it’s also easy to just re-apply. When I’m wearing this, I re-apply it after eating.

Jane Iredale knows their packaging and this is no exception. The lipstick looks beautiful and luxurious. There is a small detail in the case, which actually makes it even more luxurious: it has a magnetic closure, so when you close it, it slides effortlessly to it’s place. It’s one of those oddly satisfying things.

My shade is Rose, which is actually cool-toned rose color. On me though, it doesn’t look that cool. I’ve recently noticed that about myself: even cool-toned makeup products look quite warm on me. Undertones are tricky! I also have it in red (Gwen) and in coral (Ellen).

I sometimes feel bad for praising a product so much, but I just can’t think of anything negative to say about this, except the price. Which, then again, is justified. It is a good lipstick, no way around that.

Triple Luxe Lipstick is available in 15 shades and you can buy it for example on amazon Luxury Beauty (which is an authorised reseller according to Jane Iredale).

Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer – NARS RCC dupe

affordable good concealer

catrice concealers review

I didn’t think I would be able to live without my beloved NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, but it just so happened, that one day I ran out of it. And I didn’t buy a new one. Instead, I tried to find an affordable version of it and was pretty determined to try new products, just for the sake of trying new products. Being a beauty blogger and all.

And you know what? I think I have found a pretty good dupe for *NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. And that is: *Catrice Cosmetics’ Liquid Camouflage High Coverage concealer.

Besides being a good dupe for NARS RCC, this concealer is great, affordable and cruelty-free.

Catrice Cosmetics Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer review

catrice concealers

The concealer comes in a simple, yet beautiful packaging with a soft applicator. The consistency of the concealer is liquid yet quite thick and it’s easy to apply and blend onto the skin. It does dry pretty quickly though, so you don’t have a ton of time to work with it. But to be honest: who has additional time anyway? You just apply the concealer, blend it to it’s place and that’s it. One minute, two tops. Done.

It says that it lasts 12 hours and it waterproof, but I haven’t taken a swim in it. I have, however, exercised and sweated through my makeup and it has lasted well throughout my day. It’s one of those silent friends – it just is there and it takes care of you and it doesn’t let you down. But you don’t necessarily notice it either. Luckily I’m doing this review so I can really dig deep into this friendship and thank it for being there for me.

When I compare this to NARS RCC – it is not as creamy and soft-feeling as that is. Here’s the catch: It’s a bit dry. If you have dry under eyes, this isn’t necessarily your product. When it comes to pigmentation and coverage – Catrice concealer comes close. If you want coverage from a drugstore concealer, this one is a good choice. You can also make thinner layers and build it up. I would say the longevity is about the same with these two. I would still say that NARS one is the best concealer I’ve tried, but then again, this is five times more affordable than that and taking that into consideration, this concealer is pretty awesome.

I usually use two colors to hide my dark under eyes: a peachy color to color-correct the blue hues – and then a lighter color to brighten it up. Here I used 015 Honey and 110 Porcelain. I also use the concealer to hide any blemishes, and for that, I go for the honey color as well.

I applied quite thin layers, to make my under eye area match with the rest of my face (where I’ve used pretty sheer foundation).
