The best liquid highlight – Bareminerals Barepro Glow Joy

Reviewing the best liquid highlight I’ve tried – Bareminerals BarePro Glow.

When highlight is done right, it makes you look fresh, glowy and youthful. I’m a huge fan of natural-looking highlights that just glide onto my skin and make my skin look just the right amount of wet. What I don’t like is glittery or chalky highlights. Those can actually just enhance your texture so if you have  skin issues, those are not the best options.

The best liquid highlight product

To me, the perfect highlighting product blends into my blush seamlessly. Bareminerals BarePro Glow does that job fantastically and that’s why it’s my favorite highlight at the moment. The liquid formula makes it very easy to blend just with your fingers.

BareGlow highlighter is liquid with fine shimmer and some tint. It dries down on the skin, so that it doesn’t leave a sticky finish. That’s important, because an actual wet cheek is not that convenient (that would be the classic hair on my lip gloss situation). It’s still not one of those quickly drying products, so you have enough time to blend it into its place. This product also smooths the skin a bit, making the glow look even better.

Bareminerals BarePro Glow highlighter in the shade Joy. Simply beautiful!

My shade is Joy, which is a beautiful mix of peach and pink. The official description of the shade is: Warm pink peach with duochrome pearls.
The shade is very unique and simply gorgeous – I can’t get enough of it. It’s slightly warm and very flattering on neutral, yellow or olive undertones. There are also other shades available. I would imagine Whimsy and Free would look amazing on pink undertones, since those colors are cooler.

Liquid highlights are versatile. They can be worn as highlights or mixed in with your foundation or moisturizer for an all-over glow. Since my skin is combination, I enjoy a natural glow most of the time, so I haven’t really used this product all over the face. I love to use it as a highlighter and I also blend it into my blush.

If you’re looking for a highlighter that is easy to blend, smooths the skin, looks natural (yet super glowy)  – this might just be the one for you!

Easy blue makeup look – tutorial

blue wing makeup

I love blue eyeshadow, even though it’s not the most conventional color. I like to do a full blue makeup, but using just a touch of blue also works. In this look I used blue eyeshadow to create a wing. I paired the look with light pink. Sometimes things escalate to glitter (you know how it is), so I also ended up finishing the look with a glittery inner corner.

If you’re into blue eyeshadow too, I have a video tutorial for another blue look on my IG TV here!

Instructions:

  1. Prime your eye. Contour/shade your eye a bit using a light brown. This is optional, but for my deep set eyes it really helps to balance the eye. I shaded the area above my actual crease and slightly below my brow bone. If you look at the photos closely, you’ll see the difference.
  2. Add some light brown on your lower lashline as well, so that it doesn’t look too bare with all the color happening on your lid.
  3. Add blue eyeshadow in a winged shape to your outer corner. If you have deep set or hooded eyes, chances are, that an actual winged liner is very tricky. However, a wing shape done with eyeshadow like this is easy to do and works wonders! Blend the edges of that blue color minimally, but keep it quite focused.
  4. Add light pink to the rest of your lid and blend it together with the blue. I didn’t blend too much, because I wanted to keep the colors separate. If you blended a bit more, you could create a purple color between the colors!
  5. Line your eye, add inner corner highlight and some glitter. Add mascara and you’re done.

nyx perfect filter marine layer

For this look I used one of my favorite blue-containing palette – *NYX Perfect Filter Marine Layer. It has gorgeous colors! Besides these beautiful blues and pink – it has a the most amazing duochrome purple-teal color in it.

For the glitter I used NYX Glitter Primer and glitters from Colourpop and OCC.

A blue look I did, when I got the palette in 2017. My makeup style has evolved quite a bit from this.
