P.S. I love fall

It happens every year. I get crazy about fall. I love it’s colors, the gloomy weather, scented candles, chai lattes, the fall foliage and most of all – I love fall makeup. Red and orange hues. Dark berry lips. Gorgeous glowy skin. Messy smokey eye.

I’ve been bursting with excitement when it comes to makeup. I’ve taken all my dark lipsticks out and I’m suddenly feeling a need for more warm-toned palettes.

I felt very inspired to do a fall-inspired makeup look and here’s what I came up with. Warm eye makeup with orange shimmer on the lid, lots of black liner, burgundy lips and a full-coverage foundation with lots of highlight. Oh, and a lot of blush. I guess it feels refreshing to wear lots of makeup after wearing minimal makeup throughout the summer, haha.

Besides sharing this look I also wanted to tell you about the products I used. There are some old favorites here, some that I recently started to use again, and also a brand new product that I’m trying out.

TONY MOLY Egg Pore Silky Smooth Balm

TONYMOLY Egg Pore Silky Smooth Balm*

Pr-sample
I got this primer from the launch event that I attended last week. I think Tony Moly has the cutest packaging! This golden egg is actually surprisingly beautiful as well. I’ve only tried it a few times, but it feels nice. It has a delicious scent and it feels very smooth on my skin. The primer is silicone-based, so it’s great for smoothing out the skin and hiding pores. I used to wear these kinds of primers all the time. Nowadays I rarely wear any primer. Let’s see if this primer changes my makeup game.

KICKS Makeup Brushes*

Pr-samples
I’ve been using KICKS’ brushes for quite some time now. I think their quality and price point is great. My favorite brush from them is the highlighting brush. It’s the perfect size, it’s soft and not too dense and it makes highlighting easy.

MILANI Baked Blush, Red Vino

Milani Baked Blush, Red Vino*

I’ll admit: I mainly bought this blush, because it’s gorgeous and I wanted a deep red blush. In reality though, this is very very pigmented so you need to be careful when applying it. A fact that I forgot when I was doing this makeup look. Luckily, blush overdose is easy to fix. Just apply some powder on top of it and blend like crazy. When I’m more careful with applying this and just take the tiniest amount, it works just fine. And looks more pink than red on my skin. I love Milani’s Baked Blushes and I have another shade of it as well (a color more suitable for every day looks). The blushes are beautiful, they have good pigment, they are easy to blend and they’re affordable.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Soft&Gentle*

A beautiful, gorgeous highlight. It’s quite finely milled and not too glittery. I love this product. I use this all the time in my eye makeup as well.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Soft & Gentle Highlight & KICKS Highlighting Brush

Elizabeth Arden Lasting Impression Mascara*

A mascara, that I got from my advent calendar last year. I only opened this recently and fell in love with it. It gives a nice volume to my lashes, but doesn’t make them too heavy.

Clarins Joli Rouge Velvet, Plum*

Pr-sample
A beautiful shade for Fall. I wrote a review on these here. I find that dark lipstick shades are tricky to apply. Every single dark lipstick I own is a bit tricky. Let me know in the comments if you know a good dark lipstick, that is easy to apply evenly and smoothly.

Are you as inspired by fall and fall makeup, as me?

Matte yet moisturizing? Clarins Joli Rouge Velvet lipsticks

Wearing Joli Rouge Velvet lipstick in Deep Red.

Right now – I love glossy and sheer lips. But when you’re looking for something more long lasting, you should opt for matte lipsticks.

I recently got these new Clarins Joli Rouge Velvet matte lipsticks from Clarins as pr-samples. They came out with lots of new colors and I got four of them to try out. What’s promising about these lippies is that they promise to moisturize your lips, while being matte. That’s quite a promise and one of the reasons that got me excited about them.

Clarins Joli Rouge Velvet matte lipsticks review

The packaging of these is beautiful – as is expected from Clarins. I love their packaging and I think it makes the lipsticks feel luxurious. I like the colors I received. You can’t go wrong with nude, but I’m also a big fan of pink and red and both of those colors lean more to cool, making them perfect for my complexion. The plum color is also beautiful, but was a bit of an disappointment when it comes to consistency. Then again – I feel like these kind of plum colors always feel a bit patchy.  I have other lipsticks in  plum or purple color and they all are a bit tricky to apply on. Have you ever noticed that?

The lipsticks feel soft and velvety on the lips and they are definitely matte, but they don’t look dry on the lips. I don’t know if they feel moisturizing, but they feel comfortable and light on the lips. My lips don’t feel dry after using these. The color payoff is amazing – you definitely should line your lips before applying these, just to make the job easier, since they are very pigmented. These look so beautiful on the lips – there’s just something about matte lipsticks, which makes all the colors to really pop out.

They don’t transfer as much as ‘regular’ lipsticks and they are quite long lasting, but I did need to touch up my lips after eating (as usual). I would wear these to a party, if I wanted my lip makeup to look beautiful all evening. Or if I got bored of my glossy lipsticks, haha.

All in all I think these lipsticks are beautiful and they are a great addition to Clarins’ lipstick collection – I think they didn’t have matte lipsticks before.

Btw – In the photos there are five lipsticks – I accidentally got one of them in another formula. So that fifth lipstick is Joli Rouge Brilliant in shade Woodberry. Joli Rouge Brilliant lipsticks give shine and a sheer color, as opposed to these very pigmented and long lasting Joli Rouge Velvet ones. But I did some research and that same color is available in the matte formula as well! I love the color – it’s a cool nude color, which is definitely right up my alley.

Do you prefer matte or sheer lipsticks? Which color out of these is your favorite?
