ONE PALETTE, TEN BLOGGERS – Blue Marine

nyx perfect filter marine layers palette

I’m super excited about this post. I’ve been hyper for the past month organizing and planning a project, where I have 40 Finnish bloggers altogether. Here it finally is – or the first part of it!

I got the idea, when I though of all the different ways to collaborate with other bloggers. I came up with a makeup challenge, where each blogger does her own version of the makeup based on the same product. An eye shadow palette was an obvious choice, because you can create countless different styles with it. I thought I would be lucky, if I even got five bloggers to collaborate with me. I was so amazed, when 39 lovely bloggers all wanted to join the project! I divided the participants in ten-people groups, where each blogger does a makeup based on the same palette. I’m so excited to see all the different looks! There are so many beautiful and different women in this collab, that I bet there’s a little something for everyone! I’m also eager to see, how everyone combines the palette to the rest of the makeup? Are we gonna see some full glam party looks or something natural? Can’t wait to find out.

Our sponsor, Pretty.fi got us the Perfect Filter palette in four different shades (+ a discount code, that can be found on the Finnish post version, since the shop is Finnish). A big thank you to Pretty.fi and L’Oréal!

I’m in the first group, where we have the Perfect Filter palette in shade Marine Layers. It’s a beautiful palette with beautiful colors including bright blue, purple and pink as well as some grey and nude shades. It was super hard to decide on the makeup for this post. Do you believe me, if I said I tried to stay away from that gorgeous blue color? Well, it wasn’t so easy. So I just went with it and created a familiar smokey eye. I used the blue and the nude shades from the palette and lined my eyes using a wet brush and the darkest grey color.

I combined the bold eye makeup with a light coverage foundation and nude lips. I tried elf’s BB Cream for the first time and I immediately fell in love with that –  I think it’s gonna be my summer foundation. I lined my lips and filled them in using a nude liner and topped them off with the light pink shade from the palette.

Simple makeup with yellow liner – tutorial

It’s easy to bring some color to your makeup with small adjustments. This time I ditched the classic black liner and replaced it with bright yellow. Apart from the yellow liner this makeup is very classic – a go-to makeup, that I wear all the time.

Before and after Milani’s Conceal+Perfect Foundation. I love it! I recommend using a damp beauty blender for application. The foundation has a concealer in it too, so it’s a bit thick.

  1.  Apply a thin layer all over your face (including your dark under eye circles!) and blend the edges well.
  2.  Apply a second layer of the foundation for the areas that need more coverage, such as pimples.

Here is the finished makeup base. Contour, highlight and bronzer are all done with the NYX Professional Makeup Beauty School palette. Blush is Milani’s Pink Delizioso.

Classic eye makeup with a yellow liner tutorial

  1. Apply a primer and set the primer. I used a matte white and a light pink eye shadow to get a light and an even base.
  2. Start to contour your crease with a light brown shade. The placement depends on your eye shape. This is the lightest shade of the contour, so you can blend it to a larger area.
  3. Deepen the crease with a darker brown.
  4. Apply the lid colour. I used a shimmery warm brown, but added some light shimmer color on top of that to make it more glowing. I also applied some shimmer to my inner corners.
  5. Deepen the crease a bit more. Now that you have a lid color it’s easier to blend and see what you’re doing. I used a very dark brown at first and then a touch of black. Use a small brush for this.
  6. Line your eyes lightly with a black eye shadow. Apply those crease colors for your lower lash line as well.
  7. Create a winged liner of your choosing. Apply a coat of mascara and some lashes. All done!

Lately I’ve used a lot NYX’s the Beauty School Dropout Freshman palette. It’s super versatile! It can be used as a highlighter, contour, bronzer and a blush.

I’ve also found a new favorite foundation: Milani’s Conceal+Perfect! Now that I’ve used it for a couple of weeks I can say that it’s pretty awesome. It’s full-coverage with a matte finish and it’s quite long lasting.
